The Southern Oregon Golf Championships have been held at Rogue Valley Country Club every Labor Day weekend since 1929 with one exception in 1994 when renovation of the golf course was underway. The tournament was originally called the Northern California/Southern Oregon Golf Open and was open only for men. Only a handful of men competed that first year. In 1937, a women’s division was added. From these rather modest beginnings, the tournament is now a prestigious amateur tournament with over 400 participants with separate divisions for men, junior/senior men, senior men, super senior men, women and senior women.

The Southern Oregon Golf Championships is the largest Amateur Match-Play tournament held on a single course in the United States. Each player receives at least four rounds of golf flighted by score and handicap. Entry fee includes tickets to four cocktail and hors d’oeuvre parties and live entertainment. There is also a putting contest with a $2,000 grand prize. The SOGC limits the number of entries to only 416 players, so we encourage you to sign up early and make your travel plans now!

And, if you haven’t had enough golf during the day, you can try your skill on the putting green. For every hole-in-one you get during the practice rounds, you get one try for the grand prize during the Saturday night finale.

2021 will mark the 92nd year for the Southern Oregon Golf Championships held at the Rogue Valley Country Club. The tournament is scheduled for August 30 through September 6, 2021. You must be 16 years of age or older to participate. Cancellations after August 1st are 50% refundable. No refunds after August 15, 2021.

All entries will be placed on a first-come, first served basis until the field is full. The committee reserves the right to hold five spots in the field to fill at their discretion after the deadline date. Divisions will occur with a minimum of 32 entries. All qualifying times will be assigned. Any competitor may participate in any age division younger than their age. No motor home parking allowed on RVCC premises.

Southern Oregon is also a great vacation destination. Local award-winning wineries, river rafting, fishing and hiking are only minutes away. The Britt Festival and Oregon Shakespeare Festival provide first-class entertainment.
